OCHA - UN-CMCoord Handbook

Since 2018, engagement between humanitarians and armed actors has evolved significantly. This Handbook equips practitioners with a tool grounded in current thinking and the operational realities of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) community.

The work focused on strengthening the Handbook’s clarity and usability through close collaboration with OCHA. New visual frameworks, diagrams and illustrations were developed to translate complex coordination concepts into accessible guidance. A colour-coded structure was applied across thematic areas to improve navigation and reinforce conceptual distinctions. This approach ensures the Handbook functions as a practical, intuitive tool aligned with the United Nations Civil-Military Coordination (UN-CMCoord) approach as applied in the field today.
